Original Typeface: Empath

Original typeface and set of two panels inspired by and named for Newhouse advisor Tess Barrett. Empath captures Barrett’s caring, passionate traits with its neutrality and embodiment of many different points of view.

The letterform’s thick strokes are strong yet not intimidating, just like Tess Barrett. The rounded counters reflect Barrett's friendly and approachable side. The angular, supportive serifs portray Barrett as an independent worker who always offers her shoulder to lean on and a helping hand.

The warm colors in the panels are meant to portray the warmth and insight Barrett provides her students, while the ripples allude to her desire to lead people into their future.
